CLIENT SPOTLIGHT: BABYLISSPRO

Our goal is to always try to make content that blows our clients away, and in some cases, we mean literally…. Especially when you work with BaBylissPRO, one of the leading brands in the professional hair styling industry.

BaBylissPRO sells products from dryers and curling irons, to unique tools and accessories like cryotherapy conditioning brushes. But according to Alexis Oliva, Senior Product Manager for BaBylissPRO, the beauty industry is very copy-repeat.

“We wanted to utilize Aurora Films to see how we could be different from other brands in our industry,” said Oliva.

With BaBylissPRO, Aurora Films focused on modernizing iconic images of the past. One such project was a spoof from the famous Maxell commercial featuring Richard Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries” after the butler asked, “The usual, sir?” In our modern twist highlighting the BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium line of dryers, straighteners, and curlers, we formatted the commercial in a similar way but added a popping blue background, a remix of Wagner’s song, and some clever practical and editing special effects.

Another such project showcased the Nano Titanium Curling Wands — and what better why to tie in the magic of these wands than a spoof on the Wizard of Oz! The concept was simple, one actress will play four characters; Dorthy, Glinda, The Lion, and The Wicked Witch. Each of these characters had distinctly different hair which highlighted the many uses of the curling wands. The concept was brought to life in just one day of shooting with the help of our talented hair and makeup team, led by Hannah Krane. The shoot also featured a custom set, some creative wardrobe courtesy of Missy Stein (did you notice Glinda’s crown is spray-painted zip ties?), and of course, our post-production team always makes a great end product.

“Aurora [Films] has been one of the easiest groups of people I have ever worked with,” Oliva said. “It’s been super easy to have a concept discussed and then have it actually happen in real life,” she said.

Behind the camera, our Director of Photography Dan Giangiulio produced and shot both projects, overseeing the process from start to finish.

Dan said, “It’s always fun putting your own spin on well-known concepts. I appreciate the trust BaBylissPRO has in us as we push their brand and image to new places.”

Stay tuned for what’s next from Aurora Films and BabylissPRO as this hair-raising collaboration continues.
