THE NEXT EPISODE

Welcome to 2021; The next episode.

Everyone has a story about the isht that went down in 2020. Some good, some debilitatingly bad. We are so thankful to be here - feet on the ground, minds on the projects, smiles behind the masks. Trust, we don’t take a minute of our good fortune for granted.

As a company, we’ve moved 3 times in 10 months! That was not due to the unprecedented global pandemic. These moves were planned in advance, and we are so fortunate to have been able to continue on with our intentions despite the curveballs the last twelve months have continued to hurl.

It all began with an off the cuff remark from Dan G. a couple of years back. “Why aren’t we here?” he pondered aloud while standing at the Per Diem bar. A text message later and the ball was rolling.

Move #1 happened the month of the economic shutdown. Like for just about everyone, it was a surreal time. All of our gear, lights, and production staff packed up and set up shop in Studio A of Pod 2 located at Rock Lititz; just a short walk away from where our brand new facility was being constructed. We knew this space was transitional, but it became home. We’re proud of the work we accomplished in that studio.

Move #2 was midsummer. We said goodbye to our beautiful downtown Lancaster location. This space, for all intents and purposes, was Aurora Films. It was our home for 15 years. A space that our staff celebrated baby showers, weddings, and shared an absurd amount of conversations over coffee. Our server, edit suites, and everything else that accumulates in a home over a decade and a half, headed up the road to join the crew in our temporary space located at Rock Lititz.

Move #3 took place when we all turned the calendar. We hopped out of Pod 2 just across the Santo Domingo Creek (check out our moving montage), and all departments have now taken residence in newly constructed Pod 5 located at Rock Lititz.

This new building… it’s a beauty. Polished concrete, custom wood in the lobby by Untitled Mark, with the best view of the entire Rock Lititz Community. 25k square feet in total, 4 edit suites, 10k square feet of open studio, 5k square feet of soundstage where you can hear a pin drop, AND climate control throughout the entire beast.

We have only been here just a few weeks now and it already feels like home. There's already an energy that's hard to describe. We moved from our house of 15+ years where we had roots well established, but we knew there was something better and we found it. It's that feeling of finding your "forever home" that we all understand, and it's that feeling which gives us the confidence to push through the challenges ahead. There is strength in numbers and we'll all be in this home for the first time together.

Ok yes, obviously there’s lots to be done.  An economy to recover.  Long nights ahead.  But we are. Here. For. It.  The team at Aurora Films have the integrity and the devotion to keep supporting our clients, our community, and each other.  Am I gushing?
