FREELANCE ASSISTANT CAMERAPERSON

POSITION SUMMARY:

Aurora Films is seeking a Freelance Assistant Cameraperson (AC). The AC’s primary responsibility is to keep the right subject in focus throughout each scene. The AC reports to the Director of Photography (DP) and are disciplined, precise, punctual, and take direction well. The AC has extensive knowledge in camera systems, camera builds, and an understanding of the full video production process from pre-production through post-production. They should be adaptable, resourceful, and must work well with others in a deadline-driven environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Pulling focus

• Maintaining and organizing all camera equipment and accessories

• Cleaning camera lenses

• Building and disassembling cameras

• Managing media

• Managing battery life and charging batteries

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Experience on a video production set, specifically in the camera department (3 years)

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of camera systems and lenses

• Excellent verbal communication

• Personable and professional towards clients, vendors, and crew members

• Knowledge of video production gear and terminology

• Flexible schedule and the ability to work long and/or irregular hours in various conditions

• Stand, walk, and work on their feet for extended periods of time

• A valid drivers license and reliable form of transportation

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• High attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions

• Excellent organizational skills

• The ability to exercise judgement
