POSITION SUMMARY:
Aurora Films is seeking a Freelance Sound Mixer. The Sound Mixer has extensive knowledge in audio systems, best practices, and an understanding of the full video production process from pre-production through post-production. They should be adaptable, resourceful, and must work well with others in a deadline-driven environment. Owning your own gear is a plus!
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Record sound on-set in various recording environments (in-studio or on-location)
Mix audio in real-time
Operate boom if the shot requires
Mic talent and interviewees
Record natural sound from the environment if required
Evaluates quality of audio
Maintaining and organizing all audio equipment and accessories
Managing audio media and providing editors a written log
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Experience on a video production set, specifically in the camera department (3 years)
Extensive knowledge and understanding of audio equipment and best practices
Can work with a variety of audio equipment
The ability to troubleshoot and adjust to a changing environment
Excellent verbal communication
Personable and professional towards clients, vendors, and crew members
Flexible schedule and the ability to work long and/or irregular hours in various conditions
Stand, walk, and work on their feet for extended periods of time
A valid drivers license and reliable form of transportation
PREFERRED SKILLS:
High attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions
Excellent organizational skills
The ability to exercise judgement
